I thin ther iz more to thiz deal than meets the i, Mac... uh Mark.

The CEO of ELNK spoke on CNBC and said that one would have to accept a First USA credit card as part of the deal. So that's Earthlink, Cyber-Cash, First USA Visa and (let's not forget) Apple in on this deal.

Apple already plugs Earthlink/Sprint as the default ISP on their new machines. Cyber-Cash will plug their InstaBuy wallet accounting system. First USA is tied in with a consumer credit account. It looks like some heavy hitters are joining forces, and they are not being led by a cartoon character playing the kazoo. There's some BIG BUCKS behind these woods and the rack clacking and snorting is just getting started.

First USA, by the way is the bank behind the AOL Visa card, and it is one crack outfit. If this upstart is backed by First USA and is pledging to give away 1 million iMacs in two years, you can bet that is their most conservative estimate. If consumers of the caliber they are looking for take the bait, and with the iMac as the bait odds favor they will, there may well be a second million iMacs (or its 2001 equivalent) to follow the first.
