They had a show on the Discovery Channel or A&E...I forget which, that talked about this very thing. It was very interesting. They mentioned something about the carbon dating, but I forget exactly what it was...something maybe about the makeup of the cloth, was what was causing the errant date. I'll have to research it to be sure I'm telling you right...but it was something to this effect.

I don't put my faith in a piece of cloth, but it's extremely intriguing.
