Groovy baby...Watch Austin Powers twice on one battery

(Cube inside...)

* San Francisco Chronicle reporter Henry Norr takes issue with an ad campaign from Apple claiming that its new DVD-equipped G3 PowerBooks allow users to watch Austin Powers twice on one battery charge. In mid-July, Norr tested one of the new systems and reported that no, you can't get through the film twice on a single charge. Apple called back with instructions allowing Norr to reduce the speed of his computer's processor. The battery lasted longer with the new settings, Norr reported - exactly two hours, 36 minutes and 20 seconds - but not long enough to spin the 90-minute movie twice. The new models are, however, a marked improvement over the line introduced last year, which held a charge for barely two hours during DVD playback.
