AM: When the fit hits the shan, credit will be much harder to come by and many middle class Americans will have little choice. I also expect that lots of folks that will have access to credit will swear off it for some time. It's amazing how many people carry credit card debt--especially among those making very good money.

I've also never used a debit card and am even charging my son's tuition at UVM (taken out automatically on a monthly basis) for the float, but more importantly for the 1.2 miles/$ I accumulate. 12-step credit programs are also likely to be big business in the '00s.
