My impression was always that they had initially viewed him as problematic because he forced the issue, and thereby forced them to change their timetable and methodology in how they faced those issues.

It doesn't mean they weren't involved in those issues.

Don't get me wrong. If you look at my posts, I have said that arguments can be made for the matyrdom of the Kennedy's. I have told you how I think the majority of people felt. I haven't said that the Kennedy's were angels, or perfect, or saintly. I am aware of their shortcomings. In the "pantheon of hero's" I will always take a MLK, or Ghandi, or Mother Thearesa, way before I take a Kennedy.
