I just went all the way through it again, and still see no basis in logic for your assumptions. Perhaps i should review my own tendency to default to an assumption of sanity in other posters. But in the last ten or fifteen years the Politically Correct Winds of Change have been a hurricane for those of us in resource industries who have to deal with governmental land use decisions. Particularly in certain provinces. It really does take a wheelbarrow - and a sturdy one - to pack around the BC Forest Practices Code with all amendments and interpretations and associated bumpf. You can't comprehend this from the ivory tower in which you have your janitor job, but i do care about soil/water/air quality, my living depends on its maintenance and my interest has always been in its improvement. I am a planter of trees in the overgrazed potreros of the cattle country of Chiapas, and am known locally here for the quality of my long-term stewardship of certain lands. Two friends really got a hoot from your abz posts, btw. Extensive tedious bureaucracy and incredibly expensive paper-shuffling does not quality stewardship make. This is my point, as anyone with moderate reading comprehension could tell. It is a valid point. Canada, in my own experience, falls in this respect behind other jurisdictions. Look at what Aber is going through. In Sierra Leone they whack off your arm with a machete, in Canada they chew off your wallet with bureaucrats. Well i guess if those were the only two choices i would prefer to lose my wallet ... but they are not the only choices. It is a big planet, chaparrito. Winspear will be going through this before long. It may be easier for wsp since they'll have less opencast and more underground, and because Diamet and Aber will have gone before, but it will still be a long hard expensive bureaucratic road. Longer and harder and more expensive than it should be, imho. Another of your false accusations is that i have supported one 'side' or the other in your own mind's media-induced fantasy version of chiapaneco events. I have not. I have pointed out that 1. there is more than one 'side' to it, much more .. 2. there's precious little black and white to the situation, just endless shades of grey which change constantly depending on who you're talking to and which side of the hill you're on ... 3. you know dick about it ... 4. if you really want to learn about it, go there with little money, put your feet on the ground for at least months, move around, and for your own sake don't spout this abusive nonsense face-to-face, everybody's got a machete there.
