That means little. Much of the short interest is due to the hedging from the convertible bondholders.

I agree there was some short covering when the stock failed to crack 89. Just like late last week when the stock rallied to 105 after holding 100 several times. Of course that bounce was short lived.

Stock split should be far from investors minds and I am
willing to bet most investors would be more concerned about
not losing money going long right now. I am willing to bet
it was due to short covering esp the move in the last 45
min.
