Went to ASUS and SUPERMICRO web sites:
Can not find VAI Apollo 133 chipset based motherboards. I swear that I saw PC133 support all over their web sites two/three weeks ago. All motherboards with VIA chipsets are very explicit in bold type that they support PC100 memory @ 100 mHz FSB. Anyone know otherwise about PC133 support out there at this timeframe.

Jd, you asked me in a prior post (I missed it since it was not directed to me <g>) if I would reenter in the $75 to $77 area, and frankly, right now I do not know. It really depends on the dynamic of the descent and the extent of support developing there.

It might be worthwhile to remember during these "priced depressed" times, that my year end target of $122 is still in place and still carry with it the possibility of "$122 after a double from $61", as stated early this year when the stock first breached $100 (I did not say then, nor did I expect , that it would happen twice, but it may <VBG>). The SOX has quite good relative strength right now, but the underpinning of the market in general are becoming wobbly, often in a situation like that the leading sector will collapse just toward the end of a correction and present unusual buying opportunities.

Jd,

The one time I had to order memory for my PC, I ordered it from Crucial and was very impressed. They sent me a 32M SDRAM ($200 at the time) which didn't work. They replaced it and shipped another at their cost. It didn't work. Finally, the support guy figured out that my Gateway P 200 used a non-standard form of SDRAM (it was one of the first SDRAM systems on the market). I finally had to buy it directly from Gateway for $300. But the Crucial guys were very helpful and never charged me for the shipping.

The supervisor not the sales rep got on the line and explained that PC133 was available now however RDRAM was NOT GOING to be available to next year.

Sounds like Intel isn't getting their $500M worth <G>.

He said Sync link DDR RAM is in the works and will available later this year.

Interesting phrasing. As far as I know (maybe someone knows differently) the SyncLink stuff wasn't integrated into DDR I. I thought they planned it for DDR II.

Maybe VIA is having some rough sledding regarding Apollo chipset deliveries.

One can only hope <G>.

Dave

Did he say why? Perhaps because Dell bought up all available supply?
