What I heard, and I'm seeking verification or denial of, was that this law is going to create a national database of people.

Here's my understanding, that as of October 1st, all states are required to establish procedures to incorporate biometrics within state id's and drivers licenses by October 1, 2000. And that these procedures need to be inplace by 1/10/2000.

ie, your Drivers license will magnetically store your fingerprint, retnial scan, or other unique biometric measure; by 1/10/2000.

I am looking to find out if this is true, and where I can document it at. The speaker stated this was a law, and was going to come into effect, I searched the records, but couldn't come up with anything definative. So anybody have and idea on where to search, and if it is true, how do I get out of it ;-)
