dear doctor bond:

It has been my experience over the past year (well actually the last ten months) with AOL and the past two years with Tech stocks with high P/E ratios during the course of a major correction that there are several factors that signal reaching a bottom. The first (being a contrarian-- at times) is observing the bounty of negative posts. Also noted is that there is usually a substantial increase in volume when reaching a bottom. Noting the volume to be approximately 43 million shares today -- nearly double the average volume may represent the coming to the end of this correction. But then again, this may be wishful thinking since I suffered from premature evaluation by selling AOL on the day of earnings announcement (before the announcement) hoping to get back in at a lower price which is what happened on Thursday during Greenspan speech. If I could've only held off for several days (or weeks) I could've gotten back in at a substantially lower-price.

looking at the futures, I see it being -240 for the S&P and -400 for the NASDAQ. These numbers were taken from the 9:11 p.m. Globex prices. but then again, anything can happen between now and the morning.

Good luck to all,

David
