Mark - the US is not sinking just because the stock market will have a down period -- the world will not come to an end. Some people will lose a ton of money that they only recently got their hands on through stock speculation -- and they will ask themselves how they could have been so stupid or unlucky as to lose it so quickly. But the world will go on. People will rely on their jobs for income and the economy will remain strong. Brainless speculation will simply fall out of favor for a while.
