Samsung Electronics, which has recently started the operation of its 9th chip line is installing its 10th line for 256MDRAM and larger capacity chips. The chip giant is reportedly planning to center around 256MDRAM as its mainproduct in its early stages.
The chipmaker has already completed the orders of major facilities and equipment forthe lines. It budgeted $1.2 billion for the line originally however it raised the investment to $1.8billion last May.
0.13¡0.15§ processing will be selected for the line and other highly advancedtechnologies including photolithography are applied to the line. Samsung expects that the line will bring the company to more powerful position on world chip market.
