You may not think so, but many do. The wild-card is love. You know that. You are the "professor" of love!

<<<Why would a rich man marry a poor woman at all
on any terms? >>>

Did you really mean that post, or were you just fooling around?

There is, of course, more than one currency exchanged in the marriage-partner-assessing process.

If a rich man marries a poor woman, it is likely that she has some capital he doesn't, and desires.

He may be ugly, she may be beautiful. He may have a humiliating background (he feels), she may offer him respectability. He may have sexual problems or predilections he has reason to believe she will deal with helpfully. He may be 91, she may be 21. He may desire a perfect mother for his children, she may strike him as that in all respects. He may even have fallen in love with her for some combination of the reasons above, or for others.

Gosh, nihil, there are lots of reasons a rich man might marry a poor woman.

The reason I am thinking your question may be facetious is that you are the most thoroughly romantic of the posters on this thread; though your sentimental romanticism is at war, sometimes, with your neo-Darwinian insight.
