You don't realize how lucky your brother is. His purchase practically guarantees he will never sell. The reason is not that ATHM won't reach those levels. Hell, they should be able to beat that by 2002. But it is his psychology that is effectively protected by the fool purchase. When you have a sizable gain because you cleverly beat the market, you have to sell to protect your belief that you are skillful and because you can't let all that money disappear like it always does in the casino. When you have blown it completely then you tend to ignore the stock market and go off to do something constructive with your time. That's when you miss all those clever opportunities to shoot yourself in the foot. We'll see how long before you are enticed to sell. I'll bet that your brother beats you on performing with this stock. The tough time to hold is when you're winning.
