Re: Has anybody seen this? AMD Produces 0.14 Micron Devices

Sure, Craig Barrett did. Read his recent keynote on intel's site. That's why he's moved intel into networking and video, and out of the cpu market where they aren't able to compete for the next few years. (they do hope to be at 0.13 on copper by 2002) ;-)

Mani - Re: Avant! thing.

1) The .14 micron thing is very misleading. They're not talking about a .14 micron process, they're talking about .14um gates, a significant difference, IMHO. Patterning .14um gates are no big deal, again, IMHO.

2) They're talking about a simulation program, period. This simulation method evidently allowed AMD to reduce the amount of time and materials needed to throw some mainstream gates on test wafers. While this may be significant to the AMD process engineers that are working on their .18 process, Avant!, and their potential customers, it has very little to do with your AMD investment, as always. IMHO.

This is a yawner.
