Come on everybody read the thread. The SOFC is intended to provide all the electricity for the vehicle at an efficiency of say 60% or more. No one has answered my earlier question but these new air conditioners are going to be powered by electricity. I was recently in a ferry lineup for 30 minutes and the yahoo behind me was running his engine to provide electricity through the cigarette lighter outlet to provide electricity to charge his sons laptop PC. What a waste of energy and unnecessary pollution. Existing engines just designed to provide motive power and not having to cope with the power drains needed for AC and charging though an alternator will be more efficient. If you have an SOFC for electricity only then you can run your AC, charge your computer, run the fax machine and have the engine switched off. No fumes, minimum of pollution. Think too of trucks, especially refrigeration units having SOFCs to provide just their juice.
