WATSONYOUTH - <.13um refers to the groundrule generation - not the device length. Intel's published device design for the .18um groundrule generation (Coppermine/Merced etc.) is top notch/world class.(the best I've seen to date) I sincerely doubt that AMDs .14 micron devices (these I believe are for the .18um generation Athlons) will be as good.>

Thank you. I share your opinion to a tee W.Y.

Mani / Dan3, we are talking device characteristics, not process generation.

YOUTH, <Intel's published device design for the .18um groundrule generation (Coppermine/Merced etc.) is top notch/world class.>
Aha, is this the process where Coppermine can't get to 600MHz?
Very impressive indeed!

Your sincerity is truly amazing. And have you seen this:
techstocks.com

You may try to compare:

AMD: 0.25u 650MHz 1.7V 113 transistors/mm2;
Intel: 0.25u 600MHz 2.0V 68 transistors/mm2;

Of course all this is just elmer-foils and no evidences
have been promptly reported to Elmer, but it's funny
anyway. What makes you think that the AMDs shrink to
0.18 will be any worse?

It was an attempt at humor - no good for you, eh?
