GETRONICSWANG AND DELL TO HELP AUTOMATE
ILLINOIS CHILD WELFARE INFORMATION SYSTEM

ROUND ROCK, Texas, -- BILLERICA, Mass. (August 3, 1999) - GetronicsWang, the wholly owned U.S. subsidiary of Getronics NV (AEX:GTN), a leading international networked technology services and solutions company, along with Dell Computer Corporation (NASDAQ:DELL), the world's leading direct computer systems company today announced a $40 million, 39 month agreement to provide hardware, software and related services to the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services as part of its Statewide Automated Child Welfare Information System (SACWIS) project.

SACWIS is a federal initiative that makes federal funds available to states to assist in the development and implementation of comprehensive, statewide, automated, child welfare information systems that meet federal requirements.

GetronicsWang was selected through a competitive process as the prime service provider for the SACWIS contract by the State of Illinois. GetronicsWang will provide help desk, network management, deployment, desktop support and training for the State of Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. Dell Computer Corporation, a strategic alliance associate of GetronicsWang and subcontractor on the SACWIS project, will provide the computer systems. The contract involves the installation and support of nearly 4,000 desktops for the staff of the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services in over 100 locations. The agreement also includes high-performance storage solutions designed by GetronicsWang and Dell.

In an earlier contract with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, Wang Global, the predecessor company of GetronicsWang, was a subcontractor working in partnership with Computerland Technology Group and Dell. Together, Wang Global and Dell provided the hardware, installation and deployment of over 1,400 desktops and 60 servers in 15 different locations. GetronicsWang will continue to manage the combined environments of both the earlier contract and the new SACWIS contract.

"We were thrilled to be chosen as the service provider for the new SACWIS contract," said Steve Hanau, president of GetronicsWang's Enterprise Managed Services. "The selection process for this project was very competitive, and we were very glad to be able to continue our relationship with the State of Illinois."

Kevin Velten, infrastructure and user support manager for the Department of Children and Family Services said, "GetronicsWang was selected as the prime provider for the SACWIS contract following a rigorous and competitive selection process. The department believes Getronics has the proven resources and ability to deliver quality services. The SACWIS project is a huge undertaking and its successful rollout will be a great accomplishment for the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services."

"To be able to use Dell's technology and expertise to enhance service to the children of Illinois and their families is truly an honor," said Rosendo G. Parra, senior vice president and general manager, of Dell's Americas Public and International Group. "Dell works hard to create complete solutions for state and local governments that help them accomplish their goals while helping to reduce their costs."
