OT

Threads are not only about topics, but also about community. Over time, the community broadens its interractions beyond the original scope of the thread. Some people will enjoy and participate in these broadened discussions. Others have no interest. But when people start policing the depth of discussion by others, and being critical because the community has taken on a life beyond the technical limits of the subject of the thread, it creats tension and animosity within the community

SGH, couldn't agree with your points more. This used to be one of the more informative threads on SI. Kind of dropped out for awhile because I really had nothing to add about the ENGA IPO.

But a community, for better or worse, is what it is. And going out of your way to make a virtual relationship into a "hey, let's get together for lunch if you're in town" is for me a logical extension of this thread and one more reason to participate in it.

While there's an enormous supply of wonderful individuals in this world, we can all use our respective virtual communities to add to our own small lists of people we'd like to meet. Nobody has a corner on brain cells, trading strategies, or anything else for that matter.

It's a credit to all who contribute to this community that virtual relationships can occasionally be converted into "wow, I didn't think you were bald but I'm sure grateful to put a face with a name" moments.

**THAT DAMNABLE OT** SHG -- really enjoyed your post and thank you for such a lucid exploration of what stock thread community should be about. It IS difficult when there's no news, your eyes are glazing over from watching the monitor in hopes that suddenly that loser you have will suddenly shoot up twenty points and save you from the evil margin monsters (it could happen!) and your stocks are going up in smoke like the wicked witch. Sometimes you want to get away from it all, and investigate other aspects of your trading life. I for one have no one to talk to during the day but my miniature Schnauzer, Miss Parker, who is, quite simply, bored out of her mind with the my yapping about little green upticks!

To that end, I wondered if there are a few kindly souls out there who might be able to give me a crash course primer on Level II...just added that to my repetoire...and/or can direct me to same. Someone mentioned clearstation, but when i looked it up in the education glossary there was nothing available.

Thanks and to all a mighty fine day! Poet
