Sun-Netscape sees 150 pct growth in Singapore

SINGAPORE, Aug 4 (Reuters) - The Sun-Netscape Alliance expects business in
Singapore to grow 150 percent in the 1999/2000 financial year, a company official said on
Wednesday.

The alliance was formed between Sun Microsystems Inc (Nasdaq:SUNW - news) and
America Online Inc's (NYSE:AOL - news) Netscape in March to develop a unified set of
electronic commerce products.

The projected growth in Singapore would come from the sale of software products and solutions, Thomas Choong, managing
director of the alliance's Asia South Group told a news conference on the alliance's plans.

''Things are ticking, and we are very bullish and optimistic. It is highly achievable, and the potential is there in the market,'' he
added.

He said the alliance's operations in Malaysia were expected to see growth of 250 percent in the same period.

Stephen Furney-Howe, vice president for the alliance in the Asia Pacific, said revenue from the region currently contributed
between 10 and 15 percent to the alliance's overall revenue.

He added that this percentage was expected to double within the next two to three years, as growth rates in Asia were higher
than the rest of the world.

Furney-Howe said the alliance hoped to progress from its revenue base of US$500 million to attain a target of US$1 billion in
the next two to three years.

Haim,
The technology downdrift that is occuring appears to be very healthy, rational and orderly. Most large tech names with real revs. and solid growth potential have withstood the decline in NAS from 2900 to 2600 quite well, by falling around 10-15%. You are seeing a real massacre in the Internet sector which will probably not see any buying for some time. All those who got in at high levels will keep the supply up in any rally.

Regards

Alok
