E*Trade, the second-biggest Internet brokerage, said
Frank J. Petrilli won't join the company from rival TD
Waterhouse Group, as announced last month.

Petrilli, 48, will return to his job as chief operating officer job at
New York-based Waterhouse, the U.S. brokerage unit of
Toronto-Dominion Bank.

He was to become president of E*Trade Securities, responsible
for the company's retail brokerage and clearing operations, as
well as expanding its mutual fund and financial adviser
businesses. Petrilli also was to oversee the firm's move into
institutional brokerage.

"My decision to return to TD Waterhouse is a personal and
family one and was unrelated to the E*Trade opportunity,"
Petrilli said in a statement.
