John, aren't you overlooking the fact that memory product prices tend to drop like a stone a few months after new chips (or modules in the case of flash memory) enter the market. Once enough devices (cameras, camcorders, and now players like the Rio) are out there, the manufacturers will either offer rebates or drop prices to garner market share. The growing popularity of compact flash has caught the suppliers with their pants down, resulting in the current shortage and high prices. The market forces will prevail in the end. They always do. JMHO, of course. I fear that Iomega will get left out in the cold
