The train of thought is always "I can do better than you". IRID fell on its face mainly due to marketing and sales. If someone with lots of $ can survive for awhile and build its customer base it can make it.

Motorola and Chase figures suggest about 30 to 50 cents on the dollar for the debt, in terms of the amount of debt that will be written off in a reorganization. So you are right, noone will pay anywhere near the face value for the equity.
