Oh I agree that it's unlikely, but if the stock continues to spiral down, there may be no choice. If QWST falls into the low twenties, which may happen if no buyers come forward, US West shareholders won't support the deal. There's not much going forward to support the price. The stock just falls when the market goes down, it doesn't recover. That's not a positive sign. The stock is probably fine long term assuming the overall market holds up but it doesn't look good technically for the next few weeks.
