Jim: I go to the store 5 times a week with my wife (I'm retired) and I just don't see any inflation for the basic items. I don't see any inflation in soft goods (clothes, stationery, flowers, etc)or durables(cars, appliances)either. Yes I am paying more at the pump for gas but that is an artificially manipulated commodity and will in my opinion cave in as soon as one or two members decide to get a little more of their fair share. The lumber prices are caused by a lot of folks rushing for the mortgage door at once before the fed raises rates. I am not seeing any inflation in anything that is electronic or high tech oriented either. In fact I find electronics going down in price. JFD

Jim, RE: I still don't understand why you don't think inflation is heating up.

I look at the recent weakness in the dollar, gold possibly making a bottom, and put that with the strong performance of crude oil this year, and wonder if you might actually be on the money, and early, here.
