Rocky, Re: Sanyo MO disk....

Now, that's certainly more responsible. Do you know the cost per disk, or the power issues?

This MAMMOS technology has been underway since before 1996 (see: amulation.com ) and has been facilitated by the development of inexpensive "blue" laser diodes with their shorter wavelength. All data recording systems will benefit from the improved data density, and IMO all of today's systems will eventually go the way of the 8" and 5.25" disk media. Such is evolution...........

The main issue with any technology, is how well it can be accepted by the mainstream, and how well a company can penetrate the market. It will take several years for blue laser equipment to wind it's way into the hardware systems, and for useable media to be produced (as evidenced by the slow acceptance of the DVD. All manufacturers will have higher density devices. Cameras are not the only market, and there will be other significant improvements in data density in the future.

In the meantime, which company(ies) has mass market penetration, brand name recognition, manufacturing capacity, and well developed distribution channels? Could these assets also make IOM an acquisition target?

Regards,
Bob.
