While in Israel I viewed a project that currently has the power of 7,000 suns, and is being configured to create the power of 20,000 suns. All this from a field the size of approx 2 football fields.

I anticipate that all the current barriers to hydrogen will all soon fall.

Did you all see this latest achievement?

08/02/1999 - DOE Demos Ultra-Compact Reformer for FCVs

Richland, Washington - The Department of Energy's (DOE) Pacific
Northwest National Laboratory has successfully demonstrated a new
ultra-compact fuel cell reformer, bringing the fuel-cell vehicle (FCV)
closer to realization, according to a DOE release. Through the
Partnership for a New Generation of Vehicles, a collaboration between
Federal entities and the US Council for Automotive Research, an
important component of the fuel reformer can now be made at least 1/10
of its size without sacrificing efficiency. The DOE claims that the
microtechnology is significant not only because it reduces the size and
weight of the reformer while decreasing the start-up time, but also
because it will decrease the cost of the system. The ultra-compact fuel
reformer converts readily available fuel, such as gasoline, into hydrogen
to power fuel cells. Currently, hydrogen fuel storage and infrastructure
is not feasible, making it necessary to use other fuels with an on-board
reformer.
