Perk, it should make a huge difference, the slime consists mostly of metallic mud (mostly copper and the goodies with some base metals not gotten rid off in the prior smelting), but the precipitate could very well be 50% or more silica and silicates requiring once more separation (smelting?), or at l;east some strange combination of salts that differ markedly from the slime.
