It is obvious do not understand the modus operandi of astrology despite your claim (you mentioned this on the Nostradamus thread) you have read 40 books on astrology! Either that was a lie or you did not understand what you read. Or you thought you were reading when in actual fact you were not. Maybe the language was too complicated and/or too technical. Your inability to understand astrology in no way diminishes or nullifies the value and usefulness of astrology to others. Based on past observations by the Chaldean, Hindu, Egyptian and Greek astrologers over the centuries it was observed:- 1. there exist close relationships/correspondences (or synchronicity) between particular conditions/events and the celestial configurations of the stars existing at the time of those conditions/events ("As Above, So Below"); 2. that certain conditions/events and heavenly configurations are essentially cyclical in nature and that cycles exist within cycles (Law of Cycles); 3. that future conditions/events may be predicted from heavenly configurations for future points in time. (Correspondence/synchronicity principle) So, how does an astrologer make a prediction? Essentially, he looks at a particular star chart erected for some particular point in time in the future and makes his deductions/interpretations based on his knowledge that certain configurations/aspects correspond to certain types of conditions/events. Then he considers the problem or question for which the prediction was required and interprets the chart accordingly. How does he erect his astro chart? In addition to doing standard calculations, he uses a star table or ephemeris to obtain the positions of the heavenly bodies. (Even NASA uses such a table!!!) He then studies the placements and aspects of the planets etc. and makes his interpretations/deductions according to certain rules of astrology. He also draws from his past experiences and knowledge of world events (past and current) in general (and his knowledge about the person(s) asking for the prediction) to make a synthesis of his interpretations. Both short-term and long-term predictions can be made by interpreting modified astro charts that correspond for specific future times under consideration. If need be, he does fine-tuning work. (Remember, heavenly bodies move according to precise mathematical laws). For very short-term predictions, a type of astrology called Horary Astrology is used extensively. While some may look at all this as so much wishy-washy trash and bunk-and-bosh hokum, hooey and what have you, it is, to me, a rational procedure. There is method in this madness, eh? <ggg> To be sure, this is not the same as getting a bird to pick a card at random from a shuffled pack and then read arbitrarily from it. While it is possible to predict some future events from a knowledge of past history, it is not always possible to derive insights into the future that genuine astrology and astrologers can provide. Also, an astrologer can suggest a specific time-interval (based on calculations and numbers!) when a particular event is likely to occur and also related outcomes. Why have some predictions failed to come to pass? Well, "The stars incline , they do not compel ". (The free will of man and his evolution ............) It matters not to me one bit whether you agree or disagree with my views. Call it what you will, "guessing" or "prediction". After all, "What's in a name? A rose by any other name smells just as sweet!" And, of course, as usual, it is true that "A man convinced against his will Is of the same opinion still."
