ALSC has only an investment portfolio. I've been reading the same thing for over two months in this room. UMC, BRCM, Maverick, Chartered and how ALSC book value is twice it's current price. There's a reason the stock went from 11 1/2 to 7 1/2 on the heels of announced earnings. The core business can not compete in an incredibly hot market. Their earnings were 50% below analysts expectations and management has NEVER been able to accomplish anything other than increase their own personal wealth. ALSC has an extremely poor reputation within the semi industry and the street has absolutely no confidence in their ability to succeed in new product development. The Reddy's won't sell this company and the vast majority of people will not place their hard earned dollars in the hands of such a poorly managed organization. With regards to a potential buyout and breakup, I can appreciate that type of play but would never risk my money for that reason unless the company had an iota of underlying fundamentals. From a purely technical standpoint, the chart has been trending down since its peak in the beginning of July. You guys were lucky to get that recommendation on CNBC otherwise this stock would already be at 6 1/2, its next level of support. No news is forthcoming, the asset play has run its course, the market is just starting a vicious correction and the company sucks. The stock dropped to 7 1/2 on the same news and terrible earnings. Do you know something I don't?

Chuck, What is your opinion as to the effect to the regular stockholder under the scenario you suggested to take the co private, strip assetts etc?
