I hear David Duke is short-handed at the gas chambers...

Thanks Mama, but I really don't think David Duke would want me. Having read Gilder on the subject at hand, I really feel my "spin" is accurate. That quote is simply a tease out of context- unfair! Really. Gilder may not be smart enough to be a libertarian, VBG, but a racist? Hardly.

Oh, no politics for me. Philosophy of government, perhaps.

Mama Bear Libertarian true, here's another excerpt from the Wired piece from which Bill quoted Gilder.

"George Gilder's book Visible Man: A True Story of Post-Racist America - copies are being
sold on the way in, and the book stands upright in the center of each breakfast table. Visible Man is a biography of one young black
man living in Albany, New York, who, despite his charm and intelligence, continually gets in trouble with the law. His story conveys
a political message: the cause of his criminal behavior is the pandering welfare system that creates and corrupts the underclass.
Gilder blames the very people who try to help."

I have to agree with Mr. Gilder, Government greatly exacerbates the problem. This opinion makes many politically correct welfare state believers(the "very people who try to help") cry racism. But the opinion itself clearly is held with the strong intent to improve quality of life for minorities. Very libertarian, no? But alas, Gilder believes there is far more more need, use, and value in government than I do. Hell, I think he's a Republican! Yikes! In short, send Coldhardtruth to David Duke, I won't go.

Freedom works,

Dan B
