re: "anybody can claim to have inside information"

I make no such claim...and never would. An officer of the company made the claim of such shipments in a news release. I am only assuming that the shipments were made under NDAs.

Re: claim to have inside information

You don't need insider information - look at Intel's recent behavior, rushing out a new high end processor and cutting prices across the board in a fairly significant change from recent plans. Unless they're worried about the VIA/CYRIX deal, Intel management seems to be pretty much convinced that the Athlon is serious competition.

Intel will probably have a gigahertz processor out in roughly the same time frame as AMD, but wait till they try to run systems with 40ns latency DRDRAM against 15ns latency SDRAM - even if they can catch up in megahertz, they're still in trouble. No wonder they're they're trying to move anything they can before Athlon arrives.

Dan (who just can't seem to give up on that drdram thing)
