OT -- FWIW I bought sil at 8 1/4, SWC at 22 pre-split, ABX all over the place, NEM all over the place and pdg all over the place. The golds are making a lively move, silver is already flying, and platim\num and paladium are doing great. The crb is above its 200 dma (a rarity) and NEM et al popped up today -- again -- without any price increase in gold. These stocks are the flip side of the nets. When nets are going down, look for rock n roll in the metals. NEM, cracked its 200 dma and looks ready to rumble real good. On your supply issue -- one of the most complex markets there is, please don't give us the supply/demand picture unless you know what you are talking about. EG. the bank of England sold 25 tons of gold in one day, right? That accounted for only 5% of the gold that changed hands on that trading day in London alone. Its a big market, but the gold stocks are few and far between and sport tiny market caps -- explosive upside potential.

Robert, hello

1) gst has provided you with a good picture, but here is my suggestions
2) abx hedges gold, well managed, run like a finance company...i think this is the one a lot of mutual fund guys will stampede into...you will not get the full benefit of an increase in gold here, but lose less if gold does waffle...i shy away from nem , but i may have been given the wrong info on it...i like and own abx, asa (a closed end fund) and au...the latter is australian...lovely yield on au...
3) for further info, try some of the gold threads on these boards, and read www.goldminingoutlook.com...
4) i also have some agnico eagle mines (aem) which is mid tier but exposed to silver...it has some fans, but is not quite as liquid, for a small cap, check out pacific rim mining (v.pfg on these boards)...the latter is an exploration play and a 'gamble'
5) i have a significant amount of my portfolio in gold, however i should state my only long, really is 10 calls on boeing and 400 rad...
i think gold is either a breakeven, lose a little or win a lot scenario...i do not believe one can go wrong in buying one of the bigger names, and if you are uncertain, still, buy some and sell the calls on them for juicy premiums...

lol
