[Allegiance]

hi dan,

yes, Allegiance does look like a prime candidate for one the orct/fujitsu clec wins... need to dig a little more, but the key would seem to be the fujitsu sonet stuff (per conference call) along with the detail you posted...

no doubt you noticed today's Allegiance news: Paul Allen (msft fame) bought in for $75
million for a 2 percent stake in ALGX :

"Allegiance's chief financial officer, Thomas Lord, said the investment would put momentum behind its Internet-based efforts as opposed to its traditional activities as a
competitive local exchange carrier.

''This is obviously going to give a kick start and a boost to our Internet activities,'' he said.

Allegiance and Vulcan said they plan to explore strategic alliances to enhance Allegiance's Internet and electronic commerce offerings..."

dailynews.yahoo.com

also as you noted the hdsl2 reference is interesting.. particularly since they claim "first commercial application of the new HDSL2 standard..." ... altho orct/fujitsu would be great, first thought is someone like coppermountain is maybe more likely for hdsl2, as orct/fujitsu don't seem to be leaning into symmetric DSL equipment at least at this point ... cmnt wouldn't be too bad as it would at least mean cxnt/orct hdsl silicon...

thanks for posting
