I understand this. But in this case there were far, far too many shares crossing at the bid.

In 2 1/2 years watching a Level II, I've seen every game a MM plays. If they were sitting there on the bid but shares were crossing at the ask or in between it would be different. If it weren't for MLCO we'd probably be a lot lower.

This also makes me think there's something to Hawaii's post about big news forthcoming, although I always thought there were "chinese walls" between investment bank dealmakers and traders. I guess word is leaking to a few favored people.
