excerpt from article (towards the end):

ACTV: Bill Samuels spoke before an analyst's luncheon yesterday. There were 23 attendees and information should be forthcoming shortly. Initial chatter has good reports.

CVC: Merrill Lynch analyst Jessica Reif-Cohen issued a company update. She "strongly reiterated" her buy recommendation and has a $90+ 12-month target for the stock. Merrill's private market value is
placed at $140 price. CVC will rollout new digital services in late 1999 which will benefit 3 other focus list companies, IATV, TUNE and LMG. CVC management expects to complete it's full digital rollout in about 3 years. They have started to redesign it's WIZ stores and theaters to allow customers to test new products like VOD (video on demand) and interactive TV.
To keep the players in line, a scorecard: AT&T owns 33% of CVC, they also own 90+% of Liberty Media and TCI Music and by default own about 11% of IATV. As of September 8, TUNE will own the rights to deliver interactive products through all of T's cable systems.
Prior to the open DLJ upgrades parent company Barnes and Noble from "market perform" to "buy" based on valuation. This should have an impact on their internet subsidiary.
