Rande...

From today's postings on the Beta Site Launch thread, (well before your post about a "free" site):

...Meanwhile, there is a rumor circulating that in the future, access to SI will be free (which would mean, of course, that there would be no category of "paying member" with "special privileges"). Could you please set the record straight on this one?

Gladly. As mentioned above, the advertising policy details can be found on a page that we've created for this purpose. Furthermore, we have no intention of making posting on the SI message boards free to the general public. Other parts of the new SI are free, i.e. quotes, news, portfolio tracker, etc. And, of course, you can "lurk" for free. So, perhaps that is how the rumor started..

SI has been "free" for people to come onto it and do things, except posting, for quite some time, Rande.

Best wishes,
Tom

Rande, that reply was close to a rant. I love rants especially when about commonly shared aggravations. Your sign on name/password rant was a classic. We face an ever stranger world day by day. The Major League umpires address perceived grievances by RESIGNING and are now in a state of outrage because they lost their jobs. RANT, someone was paid well to advise these folks. Like the song says IT"S UNBELIEVABLE!
