mm, Bill Gates has built the most successful company in the world (as measured by market capitalization), created a standard for the computer industry that has led to prosperity for the American economy and the entire tech sector, and in the process has become the world's richest man. Now that he is successful beyond anyone's wildest dream (except Larry Ellison's, and he doesn't have a chance), he has begun a war on illness in 3rd world countries, and has already funded his foundation with over $10B. He will go down in history as one of the giants of industry and philanthropy. And you choose to characterize him as a bully and a thief.

Thanks for sharing your insights.

MM, it's great to see American's LOVE underdog's. I guess that mean's New Zealand is not the underdog in the competition with the USA since the USA wimped out and had to protect their inefficient sheep farmers with tariffs. That must mean you think NZ is top dog and USA the underdog!

Anyway, calling Irwin Jacob's an underdog is stretching a point. True enough 8 years ago, but not in the past few years'. Well, even then Irwin and the gang were not really underdog's. Sure, Q! was just a twinkle in the eye, but when people like that get twinkles' in their eyes, one should not think anything is going to stop them.

Also, I know you are a member of the Anti-Defamation League, in pursuit of truth and justice, so I take it that you are serious that $ill is a thief, a bully and steal's ideas? Gee, you don't think you are moving into defamatory statements there? I guess you are using those terms loosely to describe somebody who uses whatever ideas he can find which are not defended by patents and he uses his marketing power to defeat competitors [which to some is bullying].

Well, I reckon good for him.

You don't think it is simply envy and Real Men with hairy chests and big biceps don't like geeky nerds with glasses and billions' of dollars who probably can't throw a football all the way to third base without it bouncing twice on the way?

Mqurice

PS: It's nice to see some Q! threadsters' enjoying Kiwi lamb and wine: I can't wait for cdmaOne to be bought in NZ using all those US$ instead of GSM/TDMA/Analogue from Ericy. That's what free trade enable's.

EricL, sorry, not directed at you <I had to read your post 5 times slowly to understand exactly what you intended to say. In the process, I backtracked the thread and it leads back to a statement by me. This embarrasses me.> It was just a general rant to try to stop people seeing another thread as a war zone with enemy in it to be first vilified then destroyed. Also, sorry it was so obscure. I'll try harder...

Yeah - right.

I suppose you were rooting for the San Diego Padres in last
