the-times.co.uk Trouble is being more openly reported in England.... Remember everyone these examples are only the tip of the iceberg and come Jan when 1000's of these happen at same time the domino theory becomes the concern in Jan, feb, mar examples -------- A card-access-control system would not let people in after 21.12.99 A pedestrian in/out counter system would not operate after 31.12.99. A date-coding printer (inkjet) would not print dates after 31.12.99. A date-coding printer's operation after 31.12.99 was dependent on the format of the date entry. A smelter plant's distributed-control system could not be controlled after 31.12.99; the system checked correctly on the testbed but failed on the production system. A fire-control system logged the date incorrectly after 31.12.99. After 31.21.99, a fire alarm did not register a power failure on the panel. A fluorescent meter displayed 28 or 128 instead of 00 for the year. An energy-managing meter would not handle the date after 31.12.99. A heating and ventilation system controller failed on first power up after 31.12.99, and stopped working. A weighbridge PC logging system failed, so logging and ticket production were lost, leading to possible breaches of legislation, such as overloaded vehicles. In a programmable logic controller, the year rolled over from 99 to 01. A supervisory control and data acquisition graphics display package failed to roll over at 31.12.99, leading to loss of data logging and trend information. A fax machine would not roll over from 28.02.00 to 29.02.00 A multihead weighing machine did not recognise 29.02.00, leading to a possible breach of statutory requirement to meet average weight legislation.
