The meek shall inherit the earth...the strong will inherit the universe.

Well, I do hope that when "the strong" blast off for the universe, they leave enough of the ozone layer behind for the meek on earth to survive...

(I know, I know; the space shuttle has gotten a bad rap, but I couldn't resist.)

"Trembling quislings"? "Modern-day Luddites"? Let's see, what kind of unflattering appellations can we dream up for "the brave" here? Hmmmm...I'll think on it. :-)

Meanwhile, here is the URL for the asteroid-tracking site, if you don't have it already:

newton.dm.unipi.it

Perhaps, if things get really too hot down here for us meekies, we can deliberately call in an asteroid strike. That should cool things off a bit!

What Y4K asteroid are you referring to? If there was such an asteroid coming close to the Earth in the year 4000 we would have plenty of time to deflect it. A small nudge 100 years or so in advance would deflect the trajectory enough to cause it to miss us. That is unless we let the religionists turn the world back into the dark ages again. I see that as more of a threat. Also comets are much more of a wild card.
