OK here is a solid steady old industrial tech manufacturer..with earnings just in, up 20% for the quarter: VSH. How about that.

year's second quarter. Net earnings for the quarter ended June 30, 1999 were $20,181,000 or $0.24 per share compared with $16,766,000 or $.20 per share in the previous year's second quarter.Sequentially, net earnings (before a one-time write-off in the first quarter) were up 31% on essentially the same revenues.
