I think that was extremely unfair of you.

Bryan, in my opinion, was outstanding in addressing the concerns of the members. This is not, as you put it, BryanB's vision. This is a vision of owners, management and, whether you choose to accept it or not, members.

....and to keep those sucked in in the dark. One will only be in the dark if one chooses to keep the lights off.

This company, unlike any other big business I am aware of, has bent over backwards to please and placate its members. Then there are those that will never be satisfied.

a feature that sounds good in theory
but
in practice will be a boon to the promoters looking to assemble their cults.

we're all adults. If someone wants to use an ignore button to block out opinions they dislike they will only be hurting themselves. Anyone who does so is going to get what they deserve.
