> Funny how the numbers are changing. The military
analysts are also pointing out how the number of
Serbs killed in the B-52 cluster bomb attack has
gone from 1,000 to 500, to about a dozen now.

Yes, this reminds me the initial reports about the Patriot missiles in the Gulf war. They started out with something like 99% success rate......Bush appeared in the factory manufacturing them....and the success rate kept dropping and dropping....I think it wend down well below 50%.

Yugoslavia admitted number of dead about 500. Intitially Nato was claiming tens of thousands dead..which rhymed with the "degrade, diminish" the ability of the enemy to comit "ethnic cleansing"...but that number of course kept dropping.

> The number of tanks destroyed in Kosovo has also gone from 300 down to about 30 (which includes tanks left behind that may have had mechanical failure and were dumped).

John your numbers have already been revised. Tanks hit 13. Tanks completely destroyed 7. 6 were damaged and taken back to Serbia for repair.

In other words this was a complete fiasco from both military and humanitarian viewpoints.

> Milosevic decided to pull his army out though, after
he determined that NATO was going to invade around September 1st with about 170,000 troops. He did not want a military situation like what happened to Iraq in Kuwait.

I am not sure this was the reason he gave up. I think he gave up because of the incredible viciousness of the bombing attack was having in the civilian population (which was deliberately targeted in violation of Geneva conventions) and that the Russians withdrew their support (this Slav brotherhood BS is just another myth). Another reason he gave up was that he thought he was getting a good deal (which in fact it was not a bad deal) ASSUMING it was complied with by Nato. Instead what happened is a complete sham of the agreement that was signed:

-The KLA was given 3 months (!!!!) to voluntarily(!!) disarm their small weapons [this is a travesty really]
-The territorial integrity of Kosovo as part of Yugoslavia to be respected. Yeah, right. Still no Yugoslav govt. officials allowed back in and of course no troops to protect the Serb civilians allowed back in along with Border Customs Control officials...
-The Serb civilians were to be protected. Instead we are having Nato troops escorting them out( the ones who are still alive).
-The multiethnicity of Kosovo were to be protected, instead we are just a month or two from accomplishing some real ethnic cleansing Nato Style.

They are also saying no penny to Milosevic, yeah right like when he is no longer in power they will flood the Serbs with more money ...what a complete joke...now they are flooding the opposition and the Montenegran puppet to continue their "opposition" to the Belgrade govt.

By shutting of the biggest power in the region from all aid, along with Kosovo becoming ethnically pure Albanian, it just guarantees that the next round of Balkan bloodbath will overshadow the previous one....

A US soldier also died, I think I read a sentence buried near the end of a report in my newspaper that the cause of death was under investigation or it was accidental....yep sure.
