I'm afraid that unless there's a dramatic turn of events in favour of AOL, the company is a lost cause in the longer term if it insists butting heads with MSFT. I'm not saying this because of the nasty price action today. I just can't see anything special or unique about the company apart from its large subscriber base, which analysts keep carping about. IMHO, the best thing for AOL to do is to set aside the ego and work with MSFT. Some might find the notion repugnant, but what alternatives does AOL have.
