naz: after second-thought: msft/idt is unlikely (but *possible) because of n2p's connection to aol.
as to msft's new game, aol is not stupid and will fight back, possibly starting a netscape service (as in UK) to fight microsoft. the worst thing would be aol lowering its fee. this is very unlikely since it may very well diminish its brand.
if others don't think so and their stock drops, i'll buy some aol (i don't usually buy pure-internets).

(*example: aol is teaming with aapl on instant messaging. as far as i can remember, msft invested some $170M in aapl, after which the stock shut to 18 from 13, then cooled. see "historical quotes": edreyfus.com
