Ultimate Electronic sees Q2 shr above view
DENVER, Aug 5 (Reuters) - Ultimate Electronics Inc. said Thursday that comparable-store sales rose 20 percent for the second quarter and it expects to report earnings of at least $0.12 a share, which would surpass analysts' estimates.

Total sales for the period were $85.9 million.

''The comparable-store sales increase was the highest in over four years. We expect to report second quarter earnings of at least $0.12 per diluted share, well ahead of the analyst estimates,'' said Ed McEntire, chief executive officer, in a statement.

According to First Call, the consensus estimate for the company's second quarter earnings is $0.07 a share. It earned $0.01 a share a year earlier.

The company said that all categories of products had higher-than-planned sales in the quarter; sales increases were strongest in large-format televisions, DVD, cellular phones and furniture.
