Still remain nostalgic over a simple money rule that everyone knows, vs. having my 'expectations managed'. the good old days aren't coming back. The genie is out of the bottle. With near instantaneous dissemination of news and quick trigger market responses there is no time, speaking as a market professional, to sit and look at a piece of information, analyze it and then respond. The market moves to fast. I have to have a plan before the data comes out. The long and short of it is that I have to do my analysis before the data is actually out. That way I can respond as soon as I see it. Now if policy makers want to influence the interpretation they have to do it before the data is out. Afterwards is to late. The management of expectations is a natural by product of the acceleration of the decision making process.
