LG Telecom Sets Up CDMA Alliance with China's Unicom

August 5, 1999 (SEOUL) -- LG Telecom Co., Ltd. said that it has forged an alliance
with Unicom, China's second-largest mobile phone operator, in the arena of CDMA
wireless phone services.

LG Telecom will participate in Unicom's efforts to establish CDMA networks in China
and the two companies will collaborate to build solutions for integrated wireline and
wireless telecommunications services.

The state-run Unicom is China's second-largest wireless telecommunication service
provider. It has more than 3 million subscribers.
