I understand, and that is the common problem, the sense that there is nothing to admire in the painting, that it is fortuitous, even when it is pretty. On the other hand, there is a conception and style for which the artist is responsible, and also he chooses the paintings that will be shown, so there is still a kind of authorship. If one were to plant a flower and tend it, would you give credit for the resulting beauty?
