The free ISPs, from the little feedback I've gotten, are not great for frequent users wishing high speed. MSN will probably offer a great ISP because of the $ behind it--easy to get on, high speed bandwith etc

I agree with your point about MSN, but in admittedly few times that I've connected through my b-i-l's computer to NetZero (he lives in Tucson and I live in Phoenix) I've seen the same high-40's throughput that I get with Mindspring. I use Mindspring because I use a Linux box as a gateway for multiple Windows computers.

One drawback to NetZero (aside from the banner ad which is pretty small in high-resolution modes since it's fixed-pixel instead of percentage of screen) is that it appears to monitor for mouse and keyboard activity, not communications activity, and so may disconnect you during a download. I'm sure that MSN won't make that mistake since MSFT would probably like to sell downloadable software through them.
